DUNGANNON — The town of Dungannon in Scott County is going to be all about Christmas this weekend.

The 2016 Dungannon Christmas Parade and Holiday Fest will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19. The theme for this year’s event is “Christmas Fun for Everyone.”

From 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., crafts and food vendors will be set up inside Dungannon Intermediate School. Some of this year’s vendors will be selling handcrafted jewelry items, scarves, lotions, candles, wreaths, primitive items, funnel cakes, peanut butter candy and more.

A Fun Zone for kids will be set up inside the gym. The Fun Zone will include free inflatables. Kids must be supervised by an adult.

Dungannon Intermediate School will also have a bingo fundraiser in the cafeteria and will be selling food — hot-dogs, nachos and cheese, chips, cookies and drinks — to raise funds for a new addition for the school’s playground.

And what Christmas event would be complete without Santa Claus?

The 74th annual Santa Train will stop in town around 12:03 p.m. And then, at 2:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus along with Elijah — one of Santa’s special elves — will be at the school to greet children and hand out treat bags while supplies last.

The Dungannon Christmas Parade will start at 5 p.m. with participants lining up at 4:30 beside Scotty’s Market. The parade will begin at the corner of 6th Avenue and Hanging Rock Parkway, proceeding down Veterans Memorial Highway, turning right onto Monroe and will disband at the corner of Monroe Street and 4th Avenue. Margaret and Phil Osborne will serve as the parade’s grand marshals.

The Dungannon Town Hall is planning a tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 10 near the Dungannon Depot.
